pay cash into a current account and then use online banking to do a bacs transfer to the credit card company.
if you pay mbna directly the bank is going to take a giro fee.0 -
Ok, will try and explain briefly her reasoning.
She has interest free balance transfer on her card plus a few spends. She wants to take the money (equivilant to her purchases) out of her current account so she doesn't forget and spend it. She doesn't want to pay it straight off the card because it would be taken off her interest free balance as the ourchases may not have hit the credit account. Hope I'm making sense
There is nothing illegal about her money! She works damn hard for itLBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors
June 20.....£7,587.....3 creditors left 72% paid
£26,200 on interest only part of mortgage (July 16)...will chip away £17,103
£49,200 repayment mortgage ( July 16) £37,7640 -
It doesn't sound like a good idea. You don't know how many days it will take for purchases to hit your CC account. You also don't know how long the cash payment would take to hit the CC account.
I would suggest maybe having a separate account, transfer the money immediately into that account from your main account whenever you spend. Then once per week / month check your new CC balance and make a payment out of the new account.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
It sounds like she doesn't trust herself stay out of debt. In that case it may be better simply to stop using the card and pay with cash/debit card instead. She can use the CC to get S75 protection for items costing over £100. Personally I don't often forget I've made a payment of that amount, but maybe that's just me.
I also like the idea of a second account. Opening one with the same bank will mean they show side by side in online banking and make it very easy to transfer funds between the two.0 -
I take it this is a rewards card? Because it makes no sense whatsoever if it isn't.0
