Pay MBNA over the counter

My daughter has an MBNA card and wants to make interim cash payments to it. Any one know where she might be able to ie which banks?

It will cost £4 per paper statement which she doesn't do, so only has her card with the numbers on
LBM.....sometime in 2013 £27,056. 10 creditors
June 20.....£7,587.....3 creditors left 72% paid

£26,200 on interest only part of mortgage (July 16)...will chip away £17,103
£49,200 repayment mortgage ( July 16) £37,764

Her bank should be able to do it but may charge for the service.
All she should need is her CC account number, the MBNA account code and sort code

Why do she need to do it over counter?
Why couldn't she pay it online?

She can do it online but she wants to keep the money seperate and not having it sitting in her account till it's due, just in case she forgets and spends it ;) she has strange ideas sometimes but don't we all :rotfl:

You don't have to wait until it's due, you can just send an online payment at any time, just use the account number as reference and send the money to MBNAs bank account details. Just make sure you don't miss any minimum payments by assuming you have already paid.

She can only do an over the counter payment with a paper slip from MBNA at either her bank or the Co-op bank.

If she wishes to keep the payments separate etc, you (or someone else) could send the payment to MBNA from their account & she could deposit the cash directly into their account.

This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com
  • She won't be able to, especially not if she doesn't get paper statements.

Just put it in her bank account and then log on and pay it towards the card straight away... I'm struggling to see the problem here, unless the cash has been obtained illegally.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

Long term - Why doesn't she opt (back?) in to paper statements?

Short term - do the online 'actual' statements contain the BGC tear off slip? If they do, just print one off. Scrub that. Just checked mine and they don't show the BGC tear off slip.

She could pay the cash into her account, then immediately ask them to make a payment to the CC. That's nearly the same as paying cash directly, isn't it?

    From the mbna website:
    Pay at your bank
Your bank or building society will be able to arrange a payment to us on your behalf - you can choose to pay using cash or funds from your bank account.
Please note: some banks may charge a fee for these services.
If you still receive your statement by post you'll find a giro slip at the bottom of your latest statement - take this slip along to your bank/building society and they'll use the details on this to arrange a payment for you.
For your payment to be processed in time, please allow 4 business days before the payment due date shown on your official statement.
Your bank may also be able to arrange a Faster Payment for you over the counter - see the Faster Payment section above for details.
Go to your bank counter, give them the cash and ask them to make a payment to MBNA giving bank account and sort code details and CC ref num. See if they will do it
