    I feel for the OP. This is where the internet is getting complicated. Personally I've always been wary of the "convenience" provided by the likes of PayPal and Amazon for processing payments. I'll always choose to buy from Amazon direct, or pay through a merchants own credit card processing than take these routes, just to know I have the backup and CC related insurances. I'll only go via PayPal or an Amazon market place seller if I the saving makes it worthwhile.

    I'm not convinced that is strictly true under the law. The Section 75 Refund Guide referenced above states:
    If you stand your ground, it's possible to argue that the indirect relationship constitutes an arrangement to pay. The Court of Appeal decided this was acceptable in 2006, but it's unlikely to be an easy task.
