Sub-meter electric bill is £450 more than I expected

I don't think the gate uses much electricity, but at the same time there are two businesses that use it and another tenant in a flat, always seemed a bit strange how I have to pick up the tab.
Landlord has got back to me, and with standing charge it works out around £3.50 a week, that includes the standing charge. I said that seemed a bit low, even for someone as energy efficient as myself, but he insists it's correct, so there we go. My gas is currently £2.50 a week for the last six months, if that gives people an idea of how low my costs are too. He says the standing charge on the electric is £15.64 a day, does that sound okay? Thanks everyone for your help.0 -

Presumably you mean 15.64p per day?
Yes, it's reasonable - although how many people are paying this against his main meter? The standing charge should be whatever he pays divided by the number of people being billed. (Other flat, business, Landlord?).
If he had anything about him he'd waive your standing charge as you are paying for everyone else's use of the gate.0 -
Sorry, yes, 15.64p.
I think the only other people that share the electric is the business behind my place, a dentist. People that use the gate would be the dentist (two, sometimes three cars in and out) another tenant and a pub owner.
I'm kind of reluctant to bring up the issue of the standing charge right now as he was a bit short with me in his last email (not sure why, this situation wasn't any fault of mine) but I will mention it in a few days. I've never dealt with a landlord in this way before, it's always been a letting agency, so I'm not sure of how to speak to him really.0
