Flight Delayed Last Christmas - Aer Lingus

We were going to New York for 4 nights last Christmas. Flight from Gatwick to Dublin was delayed 3 hours (Pilot Illness and No Show )and we missed our connection to JFK (even though it had not pushed back and were delayed 5 hours in Dublin being a total of 8 hours late. Aer Lingus say that we don't have a claim? Is this correct? Any responses gratefully received.
Best Regards
Chris

I've got a claim with them too for a delay caused by technical difficulties. They rejected it on the basis that it was unforeseen but the recent supreme court ruling in the UK puts that to bed - UK airlines are not allowed use that excuse.
I'm going try to claim again but I'm not sure if it will work given the judgement was in a UK court. I wish we had more stories from Aer Lingus customers on here!0 -
