and a 10 minute finger holding bizarre graduation is a lot more interesting than 300 people on a course all walking across a stage in turn.... there's only 30 seconds of that that matter to any individual but it really drags out!

I think the basic degrees get fake fur - but brown cloth in my case - brown is pretty boring (sorry "bronze shot silk" was the technical description)... another time it was white silk (aka bed sheet)...
