Absolutely, what INOD said. Is DS good at remembering the details of what GP type people say? Plus, write down before hand what you want to tell the GP, and symptoms and timings, everything you can think of.

  • Strikes me you are the last person to "give in". Using more aids or doing less is not giving in - just doing what is best for you and your health.
Maybe you'll need to plod a teeny tiny bit slower :kisses3:

You've just reminded me of a trip to the doctors Beanie about 25 years ago. They asked me what I used for my asthma. Do you have ventolin and becotide inhalers? They asked. No, I have ventolin tablets.
We then peeled the doctors eyebrows off the ceiling.

Seems my mum didn't want me to become dependant on the ventolin. She was quite happy to give the impression I was mad. These things are there to help us and that's what we should use them for.

Hi Beannie - I hope you are ok? I think you are doing the right thing going to see GP! I don't for one minute think you are giving in- aids are just that! Things to help you do what you want to do - not things to demonstrate weakness! I have a friend who has become very disabled very quickly - 2 years ago we were planning a long distance bike ride for a cancer charity and now she uses a mobility scooter constantly! For her, her enforced isolation was due to not being able to accept her limitations and use aids - as soon as she 'gave in' ( her words not mine) and started using her scooter her life changed - she's now far more independent and is having a life - it may be different from the one she imagined 2 years ago - but its so much more positive now she uses aids! Far from becoming more disabled - as she feared - she is much more able! Which psychologically has worked wonders!!!

I understand your circumstances may be very different - just trying to illustrate a positive story!

Keep plodding!!! - well done on energy switch!
