Pleased you’re home
I know Scotland is v different to England ,but can’t Social Services put in some carers to help at least a couple of times a day for your Mum?
Thinking of you3 -
Pleased you are home. So long as you both have food all the other stuff can wait. (Don’t even bother trying to wash your hair if the cot seeped into the hair line. You will need help- I’ve been there).Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Lou don't hide away from your maw's visitors ask them to help if they can, you are trying to be ashamed for being disabled you should not be.If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.2

So here is a practical suggestion from someone who had a head injury with a lot of blood in her hair. It is difficult to get out. Your shoulder hurts, your hip hurts your head hurts. Can you find a mobile hairdresser who can come and wash it for you? Or do you know anyone? (I spent 2 nights in hospital, no one washed it out and I had to get someone to do it for me as I could not it was sticky messy and horrible). A friend in a car accident went to a hairdresser to get it washed for the same reason.
And another practical suggestion, your mums visitors will ask if they can do anything to help. People do ask, and genuinely they mean it (err I had to learn that) but they don't want to feel to put upon (geesh it is a balancing act) so think of one or two small things that would really make a difference. I used to have a small list written down of little things so that I did not feel on the spot but could ask for help.
My little things included, can you clean the microwave for me, I made porridge and it has exploded and I don't have the energy to fix that and "honestly washing up would be so helpful, it is a small thing but I can't face it" and can you pop to the local shop I have made a small list - which would have just 5 immediate needs on it that sort of thing, not big but tiny enough to be doable so they felt great for helping and yet really helped me and the visitors feel great that they have helped.

I think staples in your head show that you were definitely not wasting time!
I hope you manage to get some rest while the visitors are here, and I agree with seeing if they can help with anything."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
I remember so well the ‘joys’ of trying to wash my hair with staples after I was hit by a car, split my head open and broke my leg. My hair was matted with blood for days ☹️ Good idea about getting a hairdresser to do it. Also accept any help offered by your maw’s visitors. I’m a devil for not asking for help so probably the last person to advise that you do.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4
