I suppose my sadness comes from the fact I have been luckily enough to have one person who sees me as a person and not just someone who has CP with all its associated difficulties. He knew my ex DH, obviously my DS. He was a lovely person who was genuinely interested in his patients. Obviously he was going to retire at some point. I also knew him in different guises over the years and he was very supportive of the food bank and so many other things behind the scenes. I will miss him.So I have done a very un MSE thing and bought him a voucher for some where I know he and his lovely wife like to go. I don’t regret it. Beanie, what’s the point of living frugally if not to enable you to buy a gift in appreciation of all your GP gave to you. In particular seeing you as an individual rather than a person with a disability. I agree with INOD - you are obviously pretty close and perhaps by reaching out, GP might be interested in sustaining a friendship with you after he retires? He sounds like a pretty special person.KKAs at 15.08.25:
