If we have been frugal a long time we know to spend according to our values. That was an excellent spend. I'm sure he will appreciate your thoughtfulness. GPs of that calibre are hard to findIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Aw that’s a lovely gesture. I’m sure you gift will be very much appreciated. Sometimes I think being on these forums can make you feel unnecessarily guilty if you spend money but I like to think it makes you more mindful when you do spend.Glad you had a nice time with your maw.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

I think the difference now is that GPs used to own their practices. Now the practices are owned by businesses & employ the GPs who move around all the time. I used to know all the GPs at my local practice, they were all up on the board along with GPs in training. Then around covid many of them retired & now there is only one whose name I recognise. I assume they no longer train GPs there as there used to be around 16 names on the board & now there are around 8. The practice is now owned by a company that owns about 8 in the town.2

Having a GP that 'gets you' when you're disabled, is such a blessing. And it's very MSE to focus on what brings value to your life and to budget accordingly. It sounds like your GP really enriched your life, and that's really invaluable.xDebt Free Diary:- The Mental Debt Struggle
