You're not a scrounger, don't say that.  You're someone in need of a little assistance to make your life a bit easier.  I'm glad you're able to start a claim now but that was a long and unnecessarily winded way of getting there.  Why are these things never straightforward when they absolutely should be?

Seems like a system designed to weed out most of the people who need to use it, which is just horrendous.

I think they deliberately make it as hard as possible. It's just wrong.

Beanie to me a scrounger is someone who is fully fit and able to work and chooses to be bone idle instead. I don't think that remotely applies to you.

I so agree.
Most people would give up at the first hurdle.
Some or maybe even most of our foodbank clients could not deal with this at all

Sorry to hear about the PIP saga 😩 Mr SA gets it and I know what you mean about the feeling like you’re scrounging, it shouldn’t be the case for genuine claims.
