    Think  - also known as Coupe glasses. The shape affects things like how intense the bubbles are, KC.

    Beanie, you could use the saucers for Champagne cocktails (sugar lump, 2 drops of bitters, enough brandy to almost cover the sugar, topped up with fizz) -  then your Mum won't mind (she may of course be too sozzled to notice)
