The CO2 shortage is because it's largely produced as a by-product of making fertiliser. Because the gas prices are so high, some fertiliser factories have shut down so there's little being produced. It's used in so many different things - preserving food, stunning animals, fizzy drinks, medicine, keeping things cool (dry ice), firefighting and loads more.
It seems ironic when we are in a climate emergency and panicking about CO2 levels in the atmosphere, but in reality it's such a tiny proportion of air, it's difficult and not economic to remove and isolate from air."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". So... if we all give up red meat to reduce emissions and the cow-slurry is not longer incorporated into the fertiliser, the by-products also reduce...don't they?jwil said:The CO2 shortage is because it's largely produced as a by-product of making fertiliser. Did you hear BoJo on with BBC's LK? Bumbling, waffling, interruptions to talk over the points she was making. Just like PMQs where he has yet to answer a question truthfully and properly. I despise that style of engagement. I conclude that there really is no substance under the veneer of supposed charm. How can they remove the UC uplift at the beginning of October with any conscience. Having just read Martin's email on energy costs I am appalled. Sorry to hijack but it burns bright here.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £10,020.92 out of £6000 after September
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £2234.63/£3000 or 74.49% of my annual spend so far (not going to be much of a Christmas at this rate as no spare after 9 months!

I saw a clip of it, he is just unbelievable. He never answers a question, just repeats the programmed guff. He was quite clear that he couldn't give a t*ss about people on UC or the general struggles of everyone on a low income and everyone who is struggling because of increased food prices, energy bills and the uplift of NI. They just do not have a clue. 'We don't need to give them that £20, we want them all to be paid more, wages are increasing'. He's conveniently forgetting that a lot of people aren't getting pay rises (including those affected by the public sector pay freeze introduced by them) and that many people simply can't work more, or do more skilled jobs etc.Suffolk_lass said:
