I can’t believe stockpiling has reared it’s ugly head again - why oh why? 😩I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Re tumbledryer I recommend a condensing tumble dryer. Ours sits on a bit of off-cut worktop, like a shelf, above the washing machine. Thing to consider is the height of the water catcher to be able to empty it - ours is at shoulder height, or down low if floor located (not great for you, I think) maybe consider a plinth under it or a friend to regularly empty it. It isn't too heavy but is a bit awkward. If you had an option to run something to a drain it would be better but I think they are quite a lot more expensive. The ones with a pipe you hang outside as a vent are prone to clogging up and the pipe splitting before anything else goes wrong. And there is a draught from the hole it goes out through (or your room gets all steamed up and your cupboards eventually delaminate!) I loathe them. Also I would go for one the same footprint as your washing machine so it takes the same size load. You don't want to squwidge it in or it won't dry. 7kg is good and standard 600mm square.
I bought a Logik (own brand) freezer from Currys and have been impressed with the quality. A 7kg condensing TD same make is about £150 from them and the delivery guys put it in position when they delivered it.
I should add I put most stuff in the TD for about 20 minutes then hang it on hangers to hang from an airing rail on a pulley - it takes all the creases out and costs less than drying completely, stops all the fabric (felting, they call it) ending up in the dryer filter, and I save hangers with clips on either end for pants and socks, dish cloths and tea towels. Apart from a problem with the door (handle, then inner and outer skins) ours has been brilliant (I hope this isn't that kiss of death moment) - ten years old at least, a Bosch Clasixx.
It would certainly reduce the drying washing faff for you and let's face it, we all have more interesting things to do with our timex

I wouldn’t be without my dryer. Sometimes I’ll partially dry on an airier and finish in the dryer. It cuts down on ironing if hung or folded as soon as they finish. I haven’t ironed since before I broke my arm a couple of years ago 🤪I have a condenser dryer. We contemplated putting the dryer on top of washing machine when we have the alterations done but I’m not sure how easily I’d be able to reach the buttons so we’ve decided to keep them side by side? We were prone to damp in the house when I used to dry washing on radiators that is now sorted 👍January spends - £587.585

Sadly mine will have to go in the conservatory.I am slightly worried about the increased running costs but need to try to make life easier for myself. My WM is really old so they won’t be brand compatible as I certainly can’t afford the tumble dryer.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters.
