vodafone warranty

I have a 24mth contract with Vodafone which is due to end in February, my phone has recently gone faulty and wont charge (I have tried everything)
I went into store and was told that because my phone is over a year old its not covered by apple warranty buVodafone cover the warranty for the 2nd year.
I was told that they will send it off to their technicians and as long as its not accidental damage it will be covered....
I received a phone call a few days later saying the technicians have had a look at my phone and because I have scratches on the edges of my phone the warranty is automatically void and it will cost £190 to repair.
My phone is very well looked after with only a few scratches around the outside case of the phone from every day use (it is 18months old) it has not been dropped or had any type of accidental damage.
They are now returning my phone without fixing it, as i cant afford to pay £190!
I am now paying £42 a month for a service that i cannot use.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance

Is it an iPhone 5 ?
If so and it's a battery problem you may find it is covered here...

You can use the service just put the sim in another phone .
Have they said what the actual problem is ??
As the product is over six months old and been rejected by Vodafones extended warranty then all you have left is the Sale Of Goods Act .You require an independent engineers report to diagnose the fault and see if it could be a manufacturing fault .
My guess is that the phone probably needs a new battery .0 -
I can use another phone but that means me buying a new one and it would have to be a decent one to get full use out of my package I pay for... on their website it says they will fix faulty phones that haven't been caused by accidental damage.
I don't think they even looked at my phone to see what the problem was they just said because it had scratches on its void but what phone over a year old doesn't have a couple of scratches on?0 -
I have already checked my battery but it is saying mine is not effected, it kept turning off around 20% before it wouldn't charge at all so i think it is something to do with it.. also my home button spins around0

just ask for an upgradeDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Check the terms of the vodafone warranty. Scratches (normal wear and tear) is not an allowable get out for them. Ask them to put in writing what part of the warranty you have voided. Keep copies of all communication and phone calls. If you are sure that you should be covered then:
Take it back to Apple. Get a full report and claim the repair and report costs from vodafone. You need Apple to state that it is normal wear and tear and no accidental damage or signs of misuse (an independent repair report would be ok but one from Apple will carry lots more weight). When vodafone tell you to go away then send them an lba and take them to court. You will win and they will have to pay you the repair costs.0
