Oh, so you've not actually spoken to Lloyds? It's just simply a greyed out button? You should just give them a call and ask.

I expect it is just internet banking.

I have it not been able to reduce an overdraft limit online, even if in credit, but can cancel it altogether online.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
  • I have tried to downgrade via the web site, and all options are blocked before I even attempt to apply, no explanations - I am logged into my account so they know it is me!
Are you serious? You haven't actually spoken to them yet?
As I have the Premier Account, and there are no problems, I am a good customer, except I will not be messed around with, there are certainly no valid reasons why I would be refused any other account other than your top account.
There's a perfectly valid reason. Their online systems don't support what you want to do. Their branches and call centres can though. It's good to talk.
It just feels to me that I am being 'nudged out' because I have made 2 complaints - both upheld - this year.
    Paranoid.

I am having serious problems with my Lloyds Premier Account over the last few months - several formal complaints - all upheld and compensation received.

I am now taking a serious look at changing my account as £25 per month for Premier Account is just not viable - I don't use the 'extras' or can't use extras such as Travel Insurance so looking into the possibility of 'switching' or downgrading at Lloyds.

However, Lloyds 'will not allow' me to downgrade to ANY other account, can they do that? or are they just trying to force me to move away because I keep complaining - as I said - all complaints have been upheld, so maybe I am just an embarrassment to them and they actually want me to leave? I have printed out their refusal to allow me to downgrade as proof and I have some data protection issues with a letter from the branch manager after my most recent complaint.

I am not an 'habitual' complainer, used to be meek and mild, but just got totally fed up with the way they have handled my account. I am a senior and was brought up to have 'manners' so everything I do is (in my opinion) well reasoned, and most importantly polite (but firm). I insist that all communications are in writing and prefer not to discuss matters over the telephone, hence I have proof of everything I have ever complained about, and matters going forward.

Back to my original question, I know that Banks can and do, do what they want when making decisions but should they be able to totally dis-allow me from downgrading without giving a reason?

Your thread from the day before here:

But there you admitted to attempting to use the travel insurance and actually using the AA cover three times.

Thank you for your response, I will look at the other thread in a moment.

As PeacefulWaters has mentioned, it's not actually possible to downgrade your account through Internet Banking. For help downgrading, please get in touch with us by phone or in branch. One of my colleagues will then be happy to help.

As Graeme mentioned on the other thread yesterday, if you have access to a Textphone, you'll find the relevant numbers here. That page lists 08 and non-08 numbers. Alternatively, a branch appointment can be arranged.

You may also find this page of use as it provides info on ways to contact us including SignVideo.

    I hope this helps,

  • FYI the top £25 account was discontinued, the current top one is a step down
  • Platinum has never charged £25 per month.
The £25 was for Premier account.
  • Platinum has never charged £25 per month.
The £25 was for Premier account.
That's the one I meant, kept getting confused.
  • Have read on forums that people are paying different amounts for their Platinum accounts i.e. £25, £17? Recently spoke to a few older people who do not pay anything at all and have the same benefits as me- travel insurance , mobile phone insurance, AA Cover etc. They claim to have had it for a number of years without charge , yet my charge has increased during the last ten years! Any ideas .? stradeypark

The benefits were provided free of charge on some accounts if you maintained a minimum balance in the account (£2Kish?).
