My cat is far more materialistic, always bringing me gifts. Headless voles, disemboweled mice, one-legged frogs .... she's so thoughtful. And to be sure I don't miss them, she usually leaves them right outside my bedroom door

The GSD is less demonstrative, comes round, gentle tail wags, soulful eyes, but bless him, he will hold his head still while I bath his ears (he's got a bit of a problem at the moment), and he cries while I do it, but trusts me enough to not move or growl - he could easily rip me to pieces, but he's just such a trusting, gentle soul for me.
Sounds like a typical GSD, a powerful dog but really just a loyal wuss.
Mine looks terrifying when people first see him (as they tell me) but soon see he's just a gentle giant and is scared of little things, even the word 'doggy'! He also likes to pretend that he's hurt his paw and will stand and cry with his paw up in the air for you to hold it and give him a fuss, but if you check on him in a bit, and stand at the opposite side to the supposed hurt paw, he'll lift up one nearest to you which is the wrong paw!! Thats how we catch him out.0 -
Gitdog loves me as long as he is nicking my blanket, eyeing up my food, trying to leap onto my lap or wriggling around wanting his belly rubbed. I am under no illusions that it's me in particular, I'm fairly sure he'd happily trundle off with anyone offering the same home comforts. And rapturous welcomes - anyone and everyone who comes to the house gets that treatment, no discrimination whatsoever.
Having said that, when he's back from kennels or been at my mum's for a while, there is no way I'm getting anywhere near the front door without him. He can look fast asleep, and if I make the slightest move he's velcroed to my leg.
Must count for something.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
My muttley won't let me out of his sight. If I go into the kitchen, so does he. If I go to the bathroom he sits outside the door until I come out. He sits so close to me on the sofa he's almost the other side of me! In bed he lies in the crook of my knees or with his head on my belly. When I go out he waits on the sofa with his head on the arm, staring at the door. Mind you it's reciprocal, I need to know he's around, love to touch and stroke him or just rest my hand on him when I'm reading. We're probably dependent on each other because we're both 'rescues', life has bounced us around a bit and we've recognised a mutual need in each other. Love, or just dependence? Definitely a bit of both, I'd say.0

My Harleycat is a skittishthing and generally scared of everyone except me. He hides away upstairs during the day when my toddler is around, or goes out, and only reappears when she is in bed for the night. At that point he becomes my shadow, curls up on my lap on the sofa purring his fluffy socks off and around 10pm starts chirruping at me that it's time for bed. He trots upstairs next to me, even accompanies me to the toilet (honestly, he's worse than my daughter...) and then lies on my chest with his face right in mine like a dead-weight fluffy hot water bottle. OH can't understand how I manage to fall asleep with him there but I'm used to it now. He doesn't generally stay there for long, he will relocate himself to my feet at some point in the night.:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0

Pipsqueak loves cuddles and I know she's feeling particularly loving when she snuggles into the crook of my neck. She follows me pretty much everywhere I go, unless I tell her "bed". She sleeps in bed with me, snuggled up under the duvet. We spoon

Barnes shows he loves me (Barnes is a Persian Cat btw) by sitting on the settee back behind me, and whupping me upside the head when he wants attention.
he also likes to know my exact location and if I have moved - he will come look for me - yowls his displeasure and goes back to his 'spot'.
if I go out - he sits on kitchen windowsill to watch me come down the hill, then quickly curls up and feigns sleep.
he shows his love by hiding behind the monitor, in the dark, if I have left the computer, then pops his head up and scares the Sh!te outta me cos his eyes glow in the dark! Cat joke?
He gives me the benefit of his hairdressing skills at night! but usually sleeps on my feet.....................lovely in the winter!
he likes me to 'nurse' him like a baby and rain kisses on his face - he enjoys it immensely as he purrs like mad! oh hang on - that's more me showing my love for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Most of my critters are quite social and delight in other people's company. My cats crawl into other people's laps, for example. Over summer when we had house guests one of the cats even thought about not sleeping in our bed but at about two am realised its just not the same not being in her own bed with her own people and so came up with us after all. ( normally she sleeps solidly the whole night through)
One of my dogs is NOT a people person. But she is a big mummies girl. I know she's not a people person because of a series of incidents and circumstances that makes her feel disproportionately anxious to look out for the house and her family. Its a misguided love.
Another dog loves us and we know because she's relaxed more here than her previous two places. ( my parents and a very good breeder) . Though she adores my mother when she went to stay there she didn't last a day her pining to come home was so intense.
And the little guy? The breed is meant to be a one person dog, but this little guy loves almost every one.
. His joy and delight at going off to places or down to the fields with various people is pretty equal. He loved going to stay with my mother for two days. I think its because HE is so loved that he has never known any thing but good response that he assumes every one will be enchanted by his good looks and cheek. But, when he sneaks upstairs its me he comes to find, me and the cats he curls up with, making his gruesome little curled lip grin and curled up into an apostrophe of apology so he cannot be told off. 0 -
Big boy Charlie , our rescue cat had the last of his teeth removed 2 weeks ago.
One evening I heard him yowling outside and the young pretender cat had decided to challenge him.
Charlie was scared but standing his ground when I went outside.
As I was scaring the other cat off ,my other cat Ginny and my Lab Millie both appeared from inside the house and backed me up..together!
Blimey, that cat took off like a rocket and has not been seen since..
seems like we are a team.
Yes they all love me and will protect me , and I love all 3 of them.
