I don't understand why the EA is not being instructed to accompany the potential buyer. I think you need to insist on this.

This would seem a sensible idea.

Any chance of sneaking the buyer in to view before the scheduled appointment or does your ex live there?

He lives there. We are going earlier now, before (hopefully) he returns home from work but the police are coming also for my protection.
  • not sure what position your buyers in and they sound pretty committed but the bad atmosphere would really put me off. we viewed a house which was going to be our first house together we were really excited about our new life living together and starting a family there. the vendor spent the whole time telling us about her horrible relationship/divorce/custody battle and how she really wanted to leave that house and have a fresh start. needless to say we didnt make an offer even though it was a lovely house at a good price. i would really recommend in your situation if this buyer falls through get the agent to do viewings. id also be careful of the state your ex has left house in before viewing can you sneak in earlier before viewing and check house over? im guessing he will do anything to put buyer off ! hope it all works out it must be very stressful for you.
iv done 3 things right in my life and their all perfect

Police attending, is going to kill a sale..it would have to be the deal of a life time for anyone to proceed under those circs...

EA and neither of you present for viewings is the only way.

Is the buyer looking at your property as a "buy-to-let"? This may explain why your situation is not putting them off.

You do need to find out how to ensure that ex is out of the house by the time that the sale is completed. Ask your solicitor as soon as you can, even your ever-patient buyer may not want to wait for several months for your ex to move out of a house that he no longer legally owns.

Is there any court proceedings ongoing against your ex for the DV? If there's any prospect of him being locked up for a while, you may have time to sell the house whilst he's "away".

Good luck for the future, hopefully soon you'll be able to move on.

Well we will see, the buyer is well aware of the circumstances and the ex's behaviour towards me. I discussed it with EA prior to going, he said to just be honest with the buyer and tell him they are there for my protection incase ex came home whilst we were there.
