Giffagff, data still slow ?

I was on giffgaff earlier this year but left because the data speeds were so slow to be unusable. I'm considering a move back to then (well the me and the wife) to make use of the free giffgaff to giffgaff calls / texts. My only concern is that the data is still rubbish. They have started using some form of traffic management haven't they?

Won't be needing 4g data.

Still very slow to unsable for me between about 11:00 and 24:00. Traffic Flow is due to kick in between 15:00-24:00 and will limit speed to 300Kbps or 100Kbps for p2p if you use more than "your fair share" whatever that means. Appears video is also going to be heavily compressed in a bid to save bandwidth.

Personally if internet is important I'd avoid and try another provider. If free calls are you thing there's Vectone all in one pocket saver for £10 = 500 uk/int mins, unlimited texts, unlimited 3G data (3.5GB FUP) and free Vectone to Vectone calls that don't require a top-up every 90 days. It's an EE MVNO so coverage should be decent.

o2 3g speeds are bad enough, when you add in Giffgaff's low network priority on the o2 network its a recipe for disaster.

Data speed is rubbish, to put it politely on a family friendly forum!


I don't use much data every month, I'm a pretty low user at maybe 70-100mg a month (mainly use Wi-Fi) but even I am out and about, Its barely useable even though I'm in a decent area with good coverage.


I can't wait to use up my credit with Giffgaff and switch to Threes 321 plan which should be better and especially with 150mg allowance with every top up, hopefully will out much cheaper (maybe send 150 texts and use about 30-40 mins a month)
