MAC Code £30 charge - Plusnet to BT

Been stung again, 18 months ago it was O2 now plusnet...These companies must make millions from this under hand charge. I had a conversation with BT who said I might not need the code, looked on Plusnet website under 'Moving to a new supplier' which says you need to ask for the code but no mention of a £30 charge if you did not. What's even more annoying is Plusnet is a part of BT. RIP OF BRITAIN AGAIN.
Any way anyone no how to get around this?

You have not been stung, you have been stupid.
Did you learn nothing from your cease charge last year!
Neither O2 or BT make this charge if you follow the agreed transfer process.
Provide a MAC or cancel and get charged a cease fee, what is so difficult about that. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
sky wouldnt give me a mac to move from sky to plusnet, they said I dont need one0

In the OP's case, there is no change to the phone line connectivity, so if a MAC isn't used, the service has to be stopped with the old provider in order to allow the new provider to take over. Without a MAC, that cease is charged to the old provider, who will tend to pass the cost onto the customer.0
