We have just had the Hairy Bikers Goulash for tea cooked in the slow cooker, it was beautiful, really tasty and sooooooo easy to make.

tweets, i am sure this would be syn free on EE if you substituted the oil for fry light?

I'm saving that link.. looks very nice!

Deffo syn free if using frylight (or 6 syn for tbsp oil) on EE and possibly syn free on Original too (if you do red/green days), I'm lazy and wouldn't bother browning the meat at all :o

Bet half the readership on here wondering what I'm on about :rotfl:

OK, now I have weird images in my mind :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I adore the Hairy Bikers recipes, have several of their books. I think I relate somewhat to the way they cook, throw a bit of this in and a bit of that etc.

I think I drive my OH up the wall though, I never stick to recipes unless it is something where it is vital. I have always seem them as suggestions rather than instructions :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I browned the beef off in a pan with the onions, tomato puree, paprika and oxo, then put it all in the slow cooker with a tin of tomatoes and the water, i popped the peppers in after about 3 hours. I didnt even bother with the bay leaf. It was really nice and tasty, will definately make this again.
It`s nice to be important, but its more important to be nice.

Others on SW/specific diet plans.... have you found it has made a big difference to your shopping bill? I struggle to keep within the budget I used to set myself as I'm less able to go for the best deal pricewise. I kind of see it as an investment in my health long term so don't mind too much. Doesn't sit well with my MSE side though. Am I missing something? No Lidl/Aldi in my town. Maybe I should try the weekly market for fruit and veg?

My shopping bill was dearer at the beginning. But I have stopped buying all the fruit I was have found out I don't need it. Just have the odd piece of fruit.

I stock up on the steambags veg I have a drawer full in my freezer.

I womble veg from work if there is any left for my tea. ;)

Must admit logie I tend to eat the same meals every week and stock up on mullerlight yogurts , beans , mushy peas and tinned tomatoes.

My shopping bill is cheaper now I have got used to the healthy eating regime .

For anyone doing a C&C/Home delivery from ASDA against Tesco go through MSM for the free jacket pots. £1.50 in Asda, £1 in T so nice little addition 69p added to APG as well as free jacket potatoes. Also the chicken dippers work out very cheap for 2 packs. By my maths it is 50p for 2 packs after APG & cashback (but this might be wrong).

I got these and can report back ... they are two potatoes in a box with crosses cut in, pre cooked and frozen ;). 5 mins for one or 8 mins to cook both.

Not sure what I expected but two potatoes in a box ...?

The MSM Cashback had better track otherwise they are the most expensive potatoes I have had at home .

just a quick pop on if anyone fancy a tesco finest meal add 2 finest cheeses election instead of sides then 3 of the anchor cheddar and you can use all 4 of the dairy vouchers, making main meal with wine 2 cheese selections and 3 packs of cheese for £6:T:T:T

hope this helps someone never find anything as rarely leave house.

Hi Logie, if you can buy your veg at the local farm shop or market I think you'll find it better and cheaper, I have two farm shops that are fantastic and a third comes to the market once a month, cannot beat their veg for freshness and flavour and it's cheaper:T

    Thanks Curl!!

I made OH look through for more, and nothing how disappointed I am in her couponing ways. :rotfl:

Managed to find the rest online, going to see what I can get out of a T shop now... Signing for the house on Friday fingers crossed I'm in before Christmas so it's only non-perishables for me at the moment. :(
