Does anyone else have mixed feelings about the children in need auction on Radio 2 this week? Whilst I think its great that people are willing to give so much to charity, and this year someone has offered to double all the winning bids , I feel a bit awkward (not the right word, but not sure how to explain it) that people have so much money to bid on fleeting pleasures. Perhaps it's just me, but perhaps it would be nice if some of the items were open to winning for, say, a £5 text.
I was having a similar thought about the "white knight" who's going to double the bids and one name sprang straight to mind...cant help but think it could have something to do with the Evans family....frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

I bought one drink as I did it before the BOGOF started. I can't see why it wouldn't still be accepted though. You paid for a drink. I would raise a case with TCB if I were you.0 -

They do do something with a text entry of the dine disco thing so everyone can join in...I think that was last week and may still be ongoing..
I do have a bit of an insight into why someone might spend that type of money on an expreience, aside from the why not if you can afford it type senario...I have a friend who has quite a sucessful business and 2 years ago bid on and got one of the packages, cant remember the specifics but it was something that involved taking 5 people somwhere.I was talking to him and asked how come he paid many tens of thousands of pounds for it and quite simply it boiled down to giving a couple of good customers a good time, inticing another in and taking him and his wife on a jolly good night out....as it also turned out the name of his company had some subtle advertising via national radio in a roundabout way through mentioning where he was based and what he did for a living etc...
...basically £50000 was a good investment in the business for him and his company as it generated lots of sales/commissions for that year and he was able to donate money he would have spent on potentially advertising his company that yeear to the children in need causes....frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

someone not long rung my office to ask if any of my work cars had been in a certain street today as her cat had been run over. I was in floods of tears its my old street and I know how stupid drivers were on it.
Poor woman and she was apologising to me for upsetting me.
Thankfully I checked the gps results and none of mine were in that area/ Otherwise the air waves would have been blue.
Poor woman and very poor cat.0
