Wow don.t know how you can function on it, I was on it and couldn't even lift my head of the pillow, totally spaced:)

I have started to cut down on them now since I had my Op but I was taking 8 a day and Pregabalin, but now I have cut down on both suddenly I realise I lost the last 2 years but more importantly I didn't do any diy jobs in the house, so now there's loads to do and as for work, I am surprised they didn't get rid of me, anyway upwards and onwards :-)

Sorry :( 10 ways is making me misinform the lovely Elite how dare they :p :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Sedatives are not a good idea as they knock the dog out, but their hearing is so good they can feel even more frightened as they can hear the fireworks but can't move so well to try to escape them. :(

Better to try adaptil, zylkene, rescue remedy, lavender oil in an essential oil burner, loud music/tv, heating on, making a safe den, even playing special interactive toys to distract but these need to be introduced as a "special" activity before the fireworks even start as the dog will be too frightened to touch them once the fireworks have started if they havent got previous positive associations with them.

I have no TV at the moment so I am sitting with music blaring out of my laptop to drown them out. I'm gonna have a headache by the end of the night!!

Good luck to anyone with scared animals. x

I spent £25 of the Adaptil spray for our dog, shouldn't have bothered, she was still walking ound tail down not sure what to do, shaking and panting, in the end she was wrapped up in a blanket eyes and ears covered up. DW can't believe I spent £25 on the dog when I won't spend it on her
  • Good morning all, cold and frosty one here, but lovely clear skies. The sort of morning that wakes you up:D

FC, hope your OH gets through this again, put your family first and drive on through. I have some understanding of mental illness through family, but no way can I even begin to understand what your OH goes through each time he hears a firework.

I have come to realise that we take a lot of things for granted, but in reality we are free because people like him put their lives on the line for us, I just wish the youth of today realised that.

That is also why I will not be signing the petition for the poppies to stay. As FC said, I think they are partly so popular because it is a short term event, people go there to pay homage to those that we lost. This will not last forever, especially as the weather is changing, and it would be awful if the day came (as it surely would) when no-one turned up to see them.

I just hope that the sacrifice of so many has not been wasted.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
