Alternative to Halifax Clarity

Not sure if it's been mentioned already, but it seems Creation have launched a rival to Halifax's Clarity card - Creation Everyday.

Rep APR is the same, 12.9% (17.9/21.9 for less than perfect histories), no fees on purchases, cash, BTs etc. at home or abroad and historically Creation have been more relaxed for some with less than spotless credit histories (from others' experiences on here).

    Thanks.

Never a good idea to rely on just one card when overseas, so Creation Everyday plus Clarity looks like an excellent combo for travellers. (Both are Mastercard, so some would say it's worth having a Visa alternative.)

    Thanks.

I altready have a Creation MC (Marriott Rewards) with a good limit. It would be great if I could use that limit with this new card. (Not holding my breath.)

Ideal for people who dislike or have acceptance issues with Halifax / LBG.

Anybody used one yet, or is it too new? T&Cs state they charge a commission for currency conversion (bottom of 5.2)...
We will also charge a commission for the currency conversion at the rate in force from time to time as notified to you in writing

The website states "No fee on spending or cash withdrawal abroad" for Everyday Credit Card - in the terms you posted I cannot see any mention of Everyday Credit Card. Below is the summary box for it:

PDF file name is "CM8530D_Creation_Everyday_Card_Terms_and_Conditions" - only T&Cs link I could find. That's why I asked if anybody had used the card (plenty of currency exchanges state "no fees" then charge commission, although usually in the rate).

Hopefully "We will also charge a commission for the currency conversion at the rate in force from time to time as notified to you in writing" is making provision for a commission which for the time being is notified to us as being zero.

    But yep, caution required!

Didn't the industry terminology for forex charges get standardised fairly recently as 'non-sterling transaction fee' or similar?

The absence of this in the summary box and general description of 'No fees on spending or cash withdrawals abroad' would essentially preclude charging...

Notwithstanding the comments above, I applied and got a useful credit limit.

As part of the application, I had to acknowledge the T+Cs which included a reference to a 2.99% forex fee. I continued on the basis that the T+Cs hadn't been updated and I would check, or that it really was 2.99% and I would cancel the card.

My e-mails yesterday and today remain unanswered (I like to have a written confirmation) and my telephone call yesterday was unsatisfactory. They couldn't answer properly, would check and call me back. Still waiting ...

I suppose I could wait for the card, use it for a non-£ transaction and see what happens. That would give me a solid response, though I'd like to know now.

UPDATE: I called again and found a more sympathetic agent who checked with Marketing. They confirmed the 2.99% was a mistake - apparently I'd been the first to notice it - that it was definitely a 0% FX fee card and the T+Cs will be amended to show that.

My card is said to be on its way.
