Vodafone Live - Complain and get 1/2 price
When I found out that vodafone live was no longer free to browse, I was not best pleased. I emailed vodafone via their official vodafone web site and said I wanted to cancel the rest of my contract(9 months left on 18 month contract) I was offered the rest of my line rental half price. I then emailed them and said I was not happy with the deal and unless I was offered a new phone I still wanted to cancel. This afternoon I received a call from vodafone and I will be receiving my new w850i sometime tomorrow and I have had email confirming this and also confirming my half price line rental until end of my contract. When I get my new phone tomorrow I will use my existing contract sim card and put in new phone and then insert a pay as you go sim card into my current phone. Not bad for a couple of emails and 20 mins spent on the phone. Just thought I would let everyone know how to go about reducing your costs and getting a brand new phone at the same time.

I've just emailed vodafone with regards to vodafone live; i have 2 lines with vodafone on contract, and i wasn't even informed that vodafone live was no longer going to be free!
not until i got my bill through and found i had a £12 usage charge, which topped up the VAT and brought my bill up to £90.
so i've emailed them to express my upset and i've said i want to cancel both lines. hopefully they won't want me to leave and offer me something similar to the gentleman above.
i'm not happy, especially as i took the lines out (august 2006) on the understanding vodafone live would be free (that's the stance the VF salesman took). i've got 6 months left to run.
they're not going to fob me off with a £7.50 bundle either, i simply can't afford it.
i hope i get a reply soon.0 -

what tariff are you on ,. and how long is the contract0 -
I'm surprised this stood up cos surely if you are in an 18 month contract and wanted to cancel wouldn't you have to pay the remainder of the contract anyway?0

change of terms and condition means sometimes you can get out of a contract free of charge, i think its something along the lines of if you can prove its going to cost you more than you would have paid then you can get out....0

You don't need to prove it's going to cost you more. The change in contract by Vodafone is 'legally' a 'counter offer' in contract law. You are free to accept or decline this 'counter offer'.
Contract terms are agreed at the start of a contract! If Vodafone what to change them then you have to be in agreement. If you don't, then you have two options;
1) Ask Vodafone to honour the contract or you'll claim for damages. (i.e. the detriment you have suffered)
2) Accept the changes (if they favour you).
As Vodafone won't want any of the hassle, they will let you leave.0
