how much compensation should i ask for

...I assume you think the case is less serious than average when you came up with your estimate.
Correct.
The OP has not incurred any financial inconvenience as a result, and at worst has only suffered the inconvenience of some unenforceable correspondence addressed to "the occupier".
Naturally this should have stopped much earlier. There may also be an issue if it proves correct that nPower failed to advise the OP of their right to contact the ombudsman much earlier.
But neither of these would probably attract a goodwill payment for distress and inconvenience caused greater than the £50-£150 suggested (you now say the average, but not what type of average, is only £135, and previously you say the most common amount awarded [the modal average] is about £100) ... and as I say it is probably going to be towards the lower end of that range if any goodwill payment is awarded at all.0 -

I was quoting from the Ombudsman when I used the word "average". I am not aware of them stating which type.
We obviously differ on our views of what makes a case serious.
Obviously if it gets to the Ombudsman it is their view that will matter.0 -
Thanks for everyones input. I understand what everyones saying. I know I havent lost out financially because I havent payed anything. I even had a guy come to read the meter in an npower shirt although he swore blind he didnt work for npower I didnt let him in because he wanted to turn my electric off for upto an hour and I produced bank statements he said he would have my problem sorted out. I dont know if I expained it properly im not looking for 1000s my problem was that someone going through the same thing for 8 weeks can get £50-£150 and at the same time I can get £50-£150 for around 130 weeks. I had to leave a lot out else it would have taken hours but on the last week of september they said the were fast tracking the complaint and a goodwill jesture would be sent out. After the warrent notice came they said they would put a hold on the account and he would get someone to ring me to discuss compensation. Thats why ombudsman is saying I can have a goodwill payment because npower them selfs have offered me it.it might not be much, but its better than a kick in the teeth:rotfl:

Somethings a miss, if they never supplied the property their wouldn't be a bill. Inregards to enforcement in the name of the occupier, it can be taken and landregistry documents checked as per the utility actDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

When it first started I rang British gas and they informed me the have supplied my house since 26/01/2002. The first time I spoke to npower the reason they gave me was their system had picked up my postcode and address and the system automatically assumed they supplied me so it made an account. I though that was aload of bull. But then again that the only explination they have given me for itit might not be much, but its better than a kick in the teeth:rotfl:

I will also receive my apology and they have told npower they have 28 days to fulfil everything. Thank you everyone for your inputit might not be much, but its better than a kick in the teeth:rotfl:

I suspect there was once economy 7 at the property, and the second mpan not de-energised. very pre-mature of them offering compo pmslDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. No. The fact that they have admitted they have opened the account in 2012 and ive been there since 2009 with british gas shows im not with them. With the evidence ombudsman have agreed so they must realise npower are in the wrongit might not be much, but its better than a kick in the teeth:rotfl:
