O/S Daily Saturday 1 November 2014
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now getting light, but very overcast, dull and grey, dry at the moment.
DH and I up enjoying first cuppas of the day.
Dinner last night was HM lasagne, I made a big dish with the intention of getting 1 or 2 extra portions out of it to freeze – but the menfolk got to it before I’d squirrelled some away …. but I don’t really mind as it was HM and cheaper than a takeaway – which we haven’t had for a while as we’ve really gone off them after a few not very nice one’s. The menfolk had lasagne, chips and salad, I had lasagne and salad. Today I’m not sure what we’re doing as we’re going to the shopping outlet this morning and then going to my parents as we have some tablecloths I want to put through her iron press – it makes them look so much better.
DS1 went straight to the bank on the way home from work last night, so we don’t have that job to do today.
Have great Saturdays everyone x
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Good morning all,
nmic thank you for starting today's thread.
Well it is damp and dreary here today but not cold, I am hoping to put some washing out if it clears up later.
Off to the hairdressers later. I had to cancel my appointment 3 weeks ago because of the flu virus we had, so I am more than overdue for a trim.
Took DD to physio yesterday and then to GP for a sick note. She has a new physio and he seems to be very good. He has given her a whole new series of exercises to do which seem to be working. Her knee cap seems to be more mobile, it had stiffened up since her op. So things looking a little more positive.
On Thursday I had a friend and her GD come to lunch and a catch up, and it was lovely. The GD is almost 7. going on 27and she was such good company.
We are off to Costco tomorrow to stock up on a few things, and I am sure their Christmas decorations will look beautiful. I won't be buying any but I do like to look.
MLW hope you are home safe and sound and that Docky was pleased to see you.
Have a good weekend everyone

Morning All
Woke up early and have wrapped some christmas presents - they are to go to oz so it's ok, I'm not super organised!
The weather yesterday was really good, warm (18 degrees), overcast and breezy - don't know why I like it like that. Unfortunately it started raining about 8pm. Not raining just now so I have put some washing on but will wait to see what happens.
I have a few shops to visit today, 8&Q to see if I can get some latches then L!dl as their flavoured tea bags are on offer and I go through lots of peppermint, I think I will also get my other shopping there too. Also need to go somewhere to get storage jars.
Had a hoover round yesterday but should really have a dance with the duster. Cleaned the the blinds in the bathrooms yesterday, what a faff. They are very thin venetian blinds and they bend as you clean them, not doing them again for a while!
Hope you are all well and have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -

The chickens are going to have a feast today, I bought them a couple of pumpkinsI was giving Ruby Chick her injection yesterday and she jumped (before the needle was anywhere near her), I stuck the needle straight into my finger  Didn't actually inject myself though so she still got her dose

I've bought some Christmas bits and pieces – a few new decs for the tree and our advent calendars. I also have some tiny Father Christmases – or they might be elves, I'm not quite sure, lol.
I'm still very wary of eating hot food, the thought of most things still makes me feel queasy. I think it's all in my mind now though – I'm pretty much back to normal but I'm associating it with feeling ill because it made me ill when I was illThe only hot food I fancy is a shop bought fish pie, I'm trying to avoid processed stuff but I need to eat something hot.

Morning all
We had a good Halloween here, I had some old bamboo screening which made a lovely little bonfire for DD and her friends to roast marshmallows over. The decorations are the same ones I've had for 8 years now, and they were originally from the £ shop so they have lasted very well.
We had lots of trick or treaters and I love seeing all their costumes! People around here are very good and only knock at houses who have decorated.
I'm going to try and get a couple of washes done but I think the weather is meant to be turning so I'm not sure if I will dry them outdoors. Speaking of outdoors the local foxes seem to have decided our garden is their new playground. They knocked over my solid stone bird bath and ripped open the bag of manure I bought for my strawberry bed. I wouldn't mind too much but they are also leaving "presents" on the lawn every night - there was six the other night YUK!!
Have a good day all, hugs to those in need xx0 -
Good morning everyone. Have got Elton John's song 'Saturday, saturday' stuck in my mind, even though I only know those two words!
Did my visit to the bank yesterday and sorted out the address problem and had to stroll past the book shop. Bought a new Alex Gray and Chris Brookmyre. Oops.
Got a hair appointment too Candlelight - it's my regular six week type thing. Need to do a little wash, a little light housework and then will read one of my new books.
Think the sun is going to shine a little so will make an effort to get out for a walk. Yesterday was so dark for most of the day with lots of little but fierce showers until the downpour.
Got eggs from the farmer so think it's eggy sandwiches for breakfast, I love them peppery and OH doesn't so its two lots to be made.
Right, time hit the shower. Hope everyone survived guisers last night.

Hi everyone,
What a week, sis-in-law has now gone and I am recovering from all the dashing round. London on Thursday was incredibly crowded from everyone going to see the poppies (including us) but we were very lucky with the weather and apart from the travel tickets and a couple of cups of tea we didn't spend much because we took picnics.
DD is in Sri-Lanka now but it sounds as if the weather isn't too good. Her BF has been bitten on the hand over 30 times y what they think was a spider so I hope he is ok.
I don't think I'll be doing much today at all.
Have a good day.0 -
Morning all
Fish fed & hubby & I have a cuppa, drizzly here today, so the washing will be going over the maiden, the DW will need emptying in a sec.
I used two tubs of sweets yesterday to the trick or treaters & surprised the lady who came to collect something was selling when I opened the door wearing my witches hat & besom.
DD is back at work today after 6 weeks off, so her hubby will be holding the fort today with all 4 kids, he's a great dad & will really enjoy himself.
Time I made a start on the DW.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Lovely trick-or-treat - gave out 130 plus packets of sweeties and stickers. Lovely kids with lovely manners:T:T:T
Im feeling glum today. Tiff with OH last night which I would have let go normally but went to bed in a huff and still feel huffy today. I get fed up of my life and today he is out all day - with my son so very altruistic of him but another lonely day today for me. I can't even be bothered to get dressed as there is no point and have just eaten cake for breakfast:(:(:( DD laughing at me as Im never normally in a mood and snarky - which she thinks is hilarious. She asked me what I wanted to do today and I said go to Cornwall - well that's impossible or is it????? DD looking after Mooloo's DGD today and i couldn't even muster the energy to see her today so must be bad - I think the world of her xx
Sorry ignore me - I know others are facing much bigger hurdles in life - such as Elona and Hilly. My thoughts are with you xxxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning everyone,
LW, Hilstep, Molly, Elona Hugs
Just returned from a fantastic week in Devon.
The weather was great and we went body boarding every day. DD1 and DD2 also went surfing.
On the way home we dropped in on DS at university and took him out for lunch, he looked fairly healthy!
Now home to a mountain of washing AND I have put my back out!
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0
