Lifetime vacs is okay as long as you don't move out of the area and cn no longer use them

Just check it includes all vaccination's ,the practice we use does the same thing but has exceptions [kennel cough ]that aren't included.

I don't do boosters on my dogs but feel that the cat is out and about so much that it may be safer to have boosters. I know that vets have lots of overheads but surely they have a bit of a duty to make vaccinations more affordable? After all, they do make a massive amount of money on insured pets!

They also spend a massive amount running a veterinary surgeon. My OH works in the medical equipment industry and even spare parts can run into the tens of thousands. That piece of equipment may not be used daily, so the costs associated with it need to be recouped elsewhere in the business - so the cost of a vaccination may not just be covering the cost of them buying the vaccination.

Not to mention that they're a business - I want my vets to make a profit, they're fab and I would hate for them to close down because the business wasn't viable.

I have used vets4pets vac for life for 2 cats and a dog and have never had issues with them. They've always given the animals a health check when they've been taken in for the vaccinations and I've always had good service from them.

Kennel cough isn't included, don't think it's seen as a standard vaccination. Also rabies isn't in there, but also not required if you don't take your dog out of the country.

Can't really compare their other pricing though, as I haven't used any other local vets, but the vet that runs our local branch has a good reputation and they do a lot of work for the RSPCA and the likes.
  • this year I went to a different vets for our dog's booster as it was half the price of our usual vet.

I understand that everyone has to make a profit but talking to other dog owners,it seems that the usual vets are notorious for being expensive.

Another one here who doesn't have boosters done. I have all my animals fully vaccinated when little and then that's it.

I've been using vets4pets for both my dogs whole lives. I also have vac4life for both of them.

I personally really like the surgery and staff, I've had one emergency and they saw and operated on my dog as soon as I got him to the clinic.

Agree with other posters about the worthiness of boosters/costs etc but I just feel a bit more relaxed knowing they've been done.

The vac4life package also includes an annual health check so no appointment is 2 mins or under! I buy all flea and worming treatment online and they've never once pressured me into buying in house.

To me the downside of your dog not having booster jabs is if your dog needs to go into kennels, they usually insist on upto date proof of boosters.

Our dog occasionally stays with a sitter and she requires proof of boosters.

There's a lot of evidence to suggest that over vaccination is at the least pointless and quite possibly harmful, can cause injection site cancers and can ultimately be fatal. Most of the "core" vaccines should normally be expected to last for life.

I would urge everyone to do some research and decided for themselves before subjecting their animals to potentially harmful unnecessary boosters.

My local vet practice will be the only vets I take any of my pets to. I'm luck that they are only a small practice with just 2 vets, and they are independent - so don't have to follow any policy or procedures associated with chains.

They know all my pets well, and regardless of who I'm in with, they remember details and ask relevant questions about the pet to be seen, and any other pet they know I've been worried about over the last few months. Partly good record keeping, partly a very personal service.

I like that they have the only record of my pets medical care, so if they become ill that full medical and care background is easily and quickly accessible.
