ipad2 seems to lag...

Hi

My iPad 2 now seems to lag. It's about 3 or 4 seconds slow in responding to my actions. No doubt due to the recent iOS update as it was ok prior to then. Has anyone experienced similar or got any suggestions as to sorting it.

Thanks

It is probably due to ios8. Start with a hard reset. Hold home button and power off until it restarts. You may find you need to do this on a regular basis.
  • Thanks, will give it a try

Love how people always blame updates when stuff goes wrong. I've got 3 iPads and 4 iPhones in the household. All updated with no issues at all. No slowness/lag/"the update deleted everything" complaints.

Do a backup and restore (search Google if needed) a clean install will sort out any problems.

just the fact that all was well before the update, as soon as it was updated it started to play up. fine before, problems afterwards. Go figure...!!!!

IPad Air and 2 iphone 5's all fine with no issues
  • The Apple forums have a load of reports of slowed down older devices since "upgrading" to iOS8.1 - seems lots of older ipads were affected and some reports of some which are now pretty well unuseable and cannot be "downgraded" to iOS7 or 6 any longer as Apple has taken that option away.

I left my iPad 2 on iOS 6 and it runs perfectly, can't use the absolute latest apps as many are just for iOS8 but at least it still works pretty fast. Older iPhones seem to take the update better - I actually updated my 4s to iOS7 and its fine, as are firends iPhones of similar age, although we thought iOS8 was probably a step too far.

Not sure what the answer is to speed them up again, if there is any sort of "fix" - Apple seem to do this eventually to older technology -in effect making it redundant and spurring on new purchases.......not very money saving, but technology does move relentlessly on.

iOS 8 is slow on the iPad 2 but a clean install did make it a lot better on mine.
