EON Fixed Deal
Options
Hi
I'm currently on an EON fixed tariff that's about to expire in December and I've been sent details of an alternative fixed deal I could sign up for.
I've looked on MSE and I see there's an EON deal that Martin recommends that also has cashback if I apply through MSE.
This deal is better than any deal on EON's site so I emailed them asking if it's possible for me to take out the deal through MSE without incurring any penalties.
They've responded with the usual corporate bullstein about how all their great deals are on their website and they're the same as anywhere else blah blah blah.
I know I can get the better deal through MSE. Has anyone had any problems doing what I want to do?
Thanks

If you read the other threads on this deal you will see that the EON rep has already answered your question .0

Hi
There are a few threads regarding EON fixed deals so I'm not sure which one you're specifically referring to. If you mean the one about v9 and v10, that's not the deal I'm currently on.
Also, and maybe I wasn't 100% clear, my specific query is, do you get penalised if you change from an EON fixed deal to another EON fixed deal via a 3rd party as apposed to doing it via EON direct?
Any help gratefully appreciated.0 -
No, you don't have to pay an exit fee when moving to another E.ON tariff: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=66868775&postcount=3030
Also, if you're less than 49 days away from the end of your current tariff, you can switch to another supplier without incurring any fees, too.0 -
The big companies are not always the best go to http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheapenergyclub for your best dealDo you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

Thanks for the replies. This whole energy deal malarky is a minefield!0

Hi DrDub
Thought I'd pop on and confirm what other posters have said.
There's no charge for changing from one E.ON tariff to another. This applies to the MSE 1 Year Collective Switch tariff too.
If you want the MSE Collective tariff you'll need to go through MSE's Cheap Energy Club. This tariff is offered only through this route and is available up until 6 November 14.
We're not involved at all during the initial sale. This is handled by MSE.
For all other E.ON queries please talk to us.
Hope this helps DrDub.

I'm a long standing Eon customer and have 8 days ago switched to a Fixed 1 yr v11 tariff which would be the same cost as my existing tariff Fixed 1 yr v6 which stops in Feb-15.
I now want to switch using the "MSE Big 10 day Winter Switch Event", since it will save me £185 + £30 cashback compared to my Fixed 1 yr v11 tariff. I've spoken to Eon and they suggested I first look at their Fixed 1 yr v12 tariff, which was not being offered 8 days ago when I switched, and does not show on comparison sites as yet.
The tariff costs are as follows:-
1) E.on Fixed 1 yr v11 (just switched to, but have 6 days to cancel):- £1,129
2) E.on Fixed 1 yr v12 (new tariff, just become available):- £966
- ......(14% saving) = £ 163 saving
3) MSE Fixed 1 Year Collective Switch:- £966 + £30 cash back = £935
- ......(17% saving) = £194 saving
Conclusion: is there any disadvantage in switching to #3 tariff? .... thanks .. Jonty0 -

Have you considered alternative suppliers? Beware of any early exit charge that may apply to your current deal, that would be waived if you stick with Eon.
Consult a comparison site and see if futher savings are possible.
(Don't forget to consider separate suppliers if you have gas too)
You won't find #3 on any other comparison site, but you can manually compare the annual charge with what is.
(This may cause issues in a years time when you want to find another new deal too)0 -
I am very curious as to whether anybody s getting the sack for allowing existing E.On customers to get the £30 cashback through the MSE switch.
All it takes is a Breakfast TV item to publicise it, and the chaos will commence. If one million existing E.On customers sign up for it, it's £30million E.On has spent, plus MSE's commission, and the admin cost, without gaining a single customer.
If I was a shareholder, which I'm not, I would be livid.0 -

Cashback is paid by CEC/MoneySuperMarket.com, and will be funded by the commission they receive from Eon. Eon isn't funding it extra.
Initial admin is via CEC/MSM who as I say will also pay the cashback. The actual transfer of tariff will be done by Eon, but then customers can transfer anyway (e.g. v12 is almost the same tariff, but is available direct from Eon, but without cashback). Presumably Eon want to encourage such transfers as they waive the early exit fee if staying with Eon.
If you were a shareholder, which you're not, would you not also be livid if eon didn't do anything to stop the exodus of existing customers to other suppliers, often smaller & cheaper? :cool:0
