Another little "woohoo" moment

I have paid of an old "friend" today, in the form of a Barclays Credit Card. When I got the darn thing almost a decade ago, it was supposed to be for 'emergencies' only. How much has changed in that time. Back then, emergencies counted as surprise MOT repairs, dinner because we messed up the shopping and any number of other small daily disasters that just got stuck on there and forgotten about.
No more. My old friend is dead and buried, never to be used again since I ritually dismembered him and threw him in the bin. Two more of his friends are waiting in the wings to take centre stage in the firing line from tomorrow but today, I am a step closer to freedom.
YNAB (https://www.youneedabudget.com) is my biggest ally along with Mr Whiteboard for planning meals and Mr FiloFax for general planning activities. Thanks to my new found friends, I have (as of this year) paid of £4876 in total bringing my debt down to sub £9000.
MOTs are now an expected expense. There is no longer too much month left at the end of the food since I have a freezer and pantry stocked enough to make a Prepper envious. Dinners out are also planned and there are no more 'oops I spent it' moments and buyers remorse. I know to the penny how much was spent on each bill, activity and morsel of food. I sleep at night and I dont have to worry about anything. Letters on the doormat are no longer objects of fear and suspicion, but welcome reminders of how far I have come (in the form of bank begging letters appealing to me to take out more credit).
Chin up people. There is a way forward.

Well done. Its a big achievement and I know it feels amazing. I said goodbye to Mr Halifax and Mr Santander in September after nearly 15 years of friendship/slavery and it felt liberating. You should be proud of yourself.
Hope you did the ritualistic disembowelment, card and chip before puting in the bin?Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -

FireWyrm - I'm a big fan of your sensible, practical and head on approach to life

As an aside, have you ever read Cold Comfort Farm? You might enjoy it - gotta love a practical heroine in a story
