In a similar situation - single to joint claim. Old claim was stopped early Oct, new paper claim posted back 10th Oct, heard nothing back. Rang 2 days ago they claim nothing on the system, transferred to another dept who took details to chase it up then said don't ring back for another 3 weeks. By that point it'll be 7 weeks since the single claim was stopped.

Oh no that's not good! I really cant afford to wait that long! im down to £13 and have used the emergency on the gas!

Iv never been in so much hardship in my life! I didn't have any tea last night and got no dinner for work as the bread was no good! Going to my parents this weekend so we can eat!

This is ridiculous! I cant believe this is the 21st century and this is happening! I wish I would have lived a lie and kept it as a single claim then wouldn't have this stress worry and be hungry!!!

Yep, crazy and worse still the automated message you get from them on the tax credits helpline is now saying claims are taking up to 8 weeks to process.

No payment yet... Phoned to chase up and it was finally showing on the system, they needed a couple of further details to complete processing the claim. These were done over the phone, then was told it was complete and money would be backdated the full 6 weeks. Good luck everyone looks like they are snowed under at the minute.

I'm sorry you guys are going through such a bad time. It's hard to believe that, in this day and age, people can be left with no money whatsoever :( Don't forget food banks, although I appreciate that they don't pay the rent or utility bills.
  • Still nothing here and just had my first missed payment. Thought I was in the clear with all my direct debits going out on payday but sadly one failed yedtetday so that's charges on top of a double payment next month.

Worst thing about it all is that they know that you're entitled before sending out the forms as they go through the checks, so why can't they make an interim payment so the family doesn't have to starve or continue paying the child or working element only 😏

To top it all off our washing machine has just broken and can't afford to have someone come look at it, kids have all sorts of things at school which we can't afford to pay and later today were going to have to ask our parents for more things for packed lunches. I feel like crying. I've never been so penniless.
