Flight Delay Compensation

My husband and I recently travelled to Turkey with Thomas Cook. The flight set off on time but after 30 minutes the pilot turned around and went back to Manchester. He said there was a fault showing and if they went on to Turkey, the engineers there were not skilled enough to diagnose the fault. When landing back at Manchester, we were given a £7 voucher each towards some food, but there was a 5 hour delay before the next flight. Would we be due any compensation for this delay?
