  • It's not just different branded ATMs.

Last week I went to a bank and there were 8 or so people queuing in the rain for a single cash machine. I went inside, and there were 3 ATMs, with 2 available. I got my money and was back outside with only queue outside only one shorter

If it's not your bank, you won't be able to get a mini-statement and check your recent transactions.

I thought this too but went to a Sainsburys own cash machine recently and got a mini statement for my halifax account! :j

Hmm, I think that's because Sainsbury's Bank is actually operated by Bank of Scotland which is part of HBOS along with Halifax; it's a joint venture between Sainsbury's and Bank of Scotland in fact.

I've got Nationwide and RBS accounts and have had no problems being offered mini-statments, mobile phone top-ups from other bank machines i.e. Natwest, Barclays, Sainsburys.

Actually the number of choices actually annoys me at the only up to date infomation I can get about my accounts is online.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

I've had this discussion with a friend before. I walked up to a Halifax machine and shoved in my HSBC card. He said to me "you're using the wrong machine". I pretended to not hear him and then when my cash popped out, he seemed very shocked!

You can only get mini-statements at your bank's machines. Phone top-ups can be done in nearly all cash machines now.
  • Hi all am new here. I think maybe people wait for their own banks cash machine to be available (as I do), so that they can obtain a mini statement. You do not get a mini statement from a cash machine if you do not bank at that bank.
