EE / Orange 99% increase in the cost of data outside of data allowance
Hi,
I have an Orange sim only deal since 2011 and am not in a contract. I currently pay £1 per day if I exceed my allowance. I have just received the following text from EE:
Hi from EE. From 1 Dec, when you use data outside your normal monthly allowance you'll pay £1.99 a day. Why not manage your account on the go? Get the free My EE app http://explore.ee.co.uk/eeapps Charges my apply.
£1.99 from £1 is a 99% increase! :mad:
I phoned Orange and their CSA confirmed that from 20th October texts were being sent out confirming the above. Has anyone else had one? Has anyone got it removed?

It's an additional service. As you're out of contract, either negotiate a better deal with more data, or leave.
Networks have realised there is no money in voice/text traffic these days. Data is where it's at.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0
