Receivers want rent, so does landlord!

We are currently renting and receivers are in due to landlords debt. Receivers want the rent but landlord does too. Rent is inclusive of heating, electric, council tax etc. Landlord is still paying for all these services and wants money. We have had no letters or request for payment from receivers for last 3 months.
We also have an ajoining door to the landlords house which is unlocked and he has the key, a friend stays we are classed as living in the landlords property so our rights are different. The landlord is not a man to be crossed and we have paid him for the last 3 months. Receivers say call police if he harasses, but we basically SHARE the house so that is not a practical solution.
The receivers are now saying they haven't even started possession proceedings and it will take months. Despite being told on 2nd Aug '14 we were being sent Sec 21. Nothing received. We could afford to pay both for a few months to keep the peace.
I would be happy to see the baliffs at this point as I am afraid of my debt to the receivers going beyond what I can afford. We have offers from 2 neighbours of accommodation, but only when our landlord has gone (Everyone is afraid of him)
What do I do - any advice please.

If the landlord is still in his property then the receivers haven't taken possession - on what grounds do they demand the rent?
As these professionals should no, if the property has been repossessed with tenants in situ, the first thing they should be doing is writing to the tenants a letter notifying them of change of landlord.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I really think you should be calling Shelter and asking them for help about your landlord, your tenancy status and the receivers and rent.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Once a receiver is lawfully appointed he is entitled to receive the rent and to manage the property.
If OP has received proper notice of appointment and the receiver has requested rent to be paid to him, then OP should indeed now pay rent to the receiver.0 -
1st letter dated 13th June saying the bank have appointed receivers under terms of Property act 1925 they are now our landlords and all rent paid to them. But all services are via our landlord heating electric ect and he is paying and providing us with those services.0

Rent demand probably because landlord has defaulted on his mortgage, that's what happened in my previous flat.
Strangely enough the landlord stays the same, that doesn't change until repossession has taken place. The receiver or their managing agents should receive the rent and carry out maintenance of the property but the landlord is still Mr. X, one of those weird legal anomalies we have.
This is a problem one though with the rent including utilities and council tax. OP should write to the receivers or receiver's agents to explain this and see what the response is.It's someone else's fault.0 -
I am currently thinking of contacting the receivers and saying "I am refusing to pay you the rent Please evict me". Landlord cant get angry with me then if its not my choice to leave ! ! !0

Why aren't you just looking for alternate accommodation anyway? If the LL isn't a nice person & has defaulted on mortgage, it is only a matter of time.I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

As above, ridiculous situation to be in- please start saving and preparing to move somewhere better.
In the meantime keep a record of all payments and all communication in writing. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
If you can afford to pay two lots of rent for a few months, as you say, then find a new place, give your month's notice but move out immediately!0
