New home - boiler packed up

I moved into my new build house 18 months ago & everything is covered by the builders 2 year warranty.
Yesterday my boiler stopped working. I contacted the house builders who said they wont fix it as it has not been serviced in the past year.
Has anyone got any advice as to where I stand?

I think it may be a condition of the warranty to get it serviced. However, if your builder won't play ball, try the manufacturer - serviced or not, a boiler should last longer than 18 months.Mornië utulië0

I don't think it will be good news I am afraid.
The manufacture will state that as it hasn't been serviced in line with their recommendations it wont be covered. The house builder would only get the manufacturer to visit anyway.
Maybe a BG fixed price repair worth a try?0 -

You could be right. It wouldn't stop me from incessant complaining though until they did the decent thing.

What do the conditions of the builders 2 year warranty say?
If it's in there that you've got to have it serviced then you've probably not got a leg to stand on (there may possibly be an exclusion due to 'willfull neglect' which they'll rely upon).
You may get somewhere if you can get an engineer to produce a report to say that the fault is not related to the boiler having not been serviced but whilst you're paying for that you might as well pay to get it fixed.0 -
When my boiler packed up I phoned BG and they offered that if I enrolled in their service plan, it could be repaired for a fixed fee of £99. They came along and did quite major work to it so I got my moneys worth.
I now pay £11 for my cover and have used it a further twice since for heating related problems and it has been well worth it for me.
Although obviously try the manufacturer route first.0 -
The conditions of my new build's warranty included having to get the boiler serviced to make the warranty valid, so as others have said yours probably has the same condition. However a boiler should obviously last much longer than 18 months, so definitely follow up with the manufacturer.0

The warranty will have the condition that it must be serviced annually - i had a similar problem immediately i moved in to a new property previously.
However, surely under conditions of sale something has to last a reasonable length of time. Have you had someone diagnose the problem yet? Is is the actual boiler, or something else in the system?0 -
Thanks to everyone who has replied. I've spoken to the NHBC who is trying to help on my behalf.
The boiler itself has an E119 error which means water pressure is low. But the pressure gauge on the boiler shows it to be normal.0 -
If you just get a Gas Safe bod in to service the boiler (as you should have done) it's quite likely that the fault will be picked up and rectified.
Why did you decide not to do this?0 -
Gawd. If you ever post again about boiler problems please be more specific than "it's stopped working". I thought you meant kaput
