Santander 123 Direct Debits

I'm due to open one of these accounts soon and I'm unsure whether or not to switch my main account over from Lloyds.
In any case, I have only one direct debit (my phone!). Any suggestions for a cheap (!) direct debit??

You can make cashback if you transfer utility DDs to your 123 account
Failing that, Tesco savings accounts work well0 -
I don't have any utility DDs.. I was thinking some some of charity direct debit or similar..?? EDIT - Tesco savings accounts wouldn't count as DD would they? I don't have that though..0

I wouldn't have recommended Tesco savings accounts if they wouldn't count as DDs
You have to open the accounts first:) then set up DDs. They're one of the very few that work this way.
No utility bills? Council tax? No mobile phone even?
Obviously charity DDs will also work, but please remember they cost the charity, so don't be too mean with them0 -
I have a Tesco internet saver account with £2 coming out of Santander and into Tesco Int Saver (assume this is a standing order ?) and £1 going back to Santander. Is this £1 a SO or a DD as far as Tesco (and any future switch) is concerned ?0

We have five Tesco savings accounts between me and the wife , works perfectly with the DD for our 123 accounts . Only has to be £1 into each one once a month .0

The £1 back to Santander is not a DDebit as far as Santander is concerned as your 123 gets credited, not debited.
You also cannot switch a Tesco savings account, or a savings account of any bank. Switching is for current accounts only.0 -
thanks. I see a lot about Tescos accounts/payments, being regarded as DDs. When I go to this account, I can set up a "monthly payment" but it doesnt say if this is a SO or a DD.....0
