Is there any energy supplier who gives good service? And who actually answers the phone.
We're having problems with Eon and a quick scan of this board shows NPower are bad too.
Reading the Facebook page of Eon is shocking.
I'm with Scottish Power and it's fine but I wonder if that's because I pay by DD and am a homeowner.
Many stories on Facebook are from quite vulnerable people very sad.
I want to know so I can advise my student son who to use next year.
His shared flat is with Eon in his name so they won't speak to me. He only wanted to set up a paper bill and pay point card but they've made error after error.
So I advised him to phone and suggested he make sure his mobile phone credit was topped up as don't want to be cut off due to low credit.
He rang them - minimum 30 min wait so sensibly didn't wait and did it via Facebook instead. Facebook comments is full of people waiting 30 mins to an hour for them to answer the phone. That can't be right to treat people like that.
So many people don't have landlines and are short of money and then these companies are draining their call credit on their mobile and worse not fixing their issues and most of them are renting and moving around and just getting loads of hassle when they've got a hard life in the first place!
Any recommendations I'd be interested in.
Thanks.

With regrards to your son using many mobile mins presumably waiting in Eon's queueing system may I suggest he gets the free app WeQ4U? Absolutely brilliant app in that it allows users to 'suspend' the call should they hit a queue thereby not using up precious minutes. It then automatically reconnects the call just as soon as an agent picks up the phone.0

Swings and roundabouts, as with most providers.
I found Ovo unhelpful, yet rang NPower, yesterday and was answered very quickly, besides being given some very useful information.
I emailed both Co-op and Sainsbury's with a question, but while British Gas, answered quickly on Sainsbury's behalf , I have yet had no reply from the Co-op.0 -
I've always found SSE to have the best service (but not always the best prices). They're certainly better than Ovo in my experience.0

Avoid npower and Scottish Power for the time being. See the following:
Npower 'worst company in the UK' for customer service
Of course you could go to one of the better companies and still be unlucky or go to one of the worst and be lucky. However by avoiding the worst companies you will improve your chances of getting good service.0 -

Never heard of that app before so thanks so much.
Also thanks to everyone who replied for the good info including the links. Much appreciated.0 -
Scottish Power are awful.Je suis sabot...0

Whatever you do for sake of your sanity dont use Scottishpower, long waiting times on phone, never call back, long wait for replies to emails sometimes not at all. Left them took 6 weeks for final bill despite sending meter readings monthly. God knows when they pay me the credit I accrued. I will never use them again0

I've found SSE and Greenstar good. With E.ON try e-mailing them.0
