I'm looking at getting a new TV after my ancient 26" has started playing up.
I can just about fit at 42" into the space, and viewing distance is just about okay. Are there any awesome bargains out there right now?

Cheap TVs can be very unreliable and, if you buy a typical "no-name" from a supermarket, they'll simply point you to the "manufacturer's 12 month warranty". Better to buy from a reputable dealer such as Richer Sounds or John Lewis where the warranty actually means something.0

I was looking at richer sounds, but all of the TVs I was interested in were not available for delivery, and collection is unfortunately not an option.
I was looking at either this panasonic and a chromecast (as panasonic smart features are apparently not great), http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-TX-42A400B-42-inch-Widescreen-Freeview/dp/B00IOQ5XC2
Or this 32 inch samsung

(The 42 samsung is out of budget)0 -
Take the Panasonic, it's literally in a different league from that Samsung (42 inch vs 32 inch!). Hope you've measured the space against the size of the TV - 42 inch is the diagonal of the SCREEN, not the size of the body.0

Thanks Almillar,
We've measured the space in our integrated TV cabinet, and there should be a few cm spare with the Panasonic
I wasn't sure if having smart integrated rather than with a separate device was worth going for a smaller tv.
Update: just found a similar non smart tv from samsung for the same price as the Panasonic: http://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-ue40h5000-led-hd-1080p-tv-40-with-freeview-hd/p14613110 -
Having the Smart-ness integrated will just make your TV date faster. Look through the specs of both TVs, read reviews, try to actually find a set to look at (picture and sound quality)and decide. I would have a slight preference towards Panasonic as a brand, but I also have good experience of Samsungs. An extra HDMI port or something could swing it.0

In case anyone else is looking.. Tesco Direct is currently doing a 5 year warranty too (and conveniently have the panasonic in stock!)
5 year warranty, free delivery + clubcard points - huzzah!0 -
I've recently bought a Samsung 32" smart TV. I researched a lot and the reviews for it were good. Bought from Co-op Electrical online with free next day delivery which worked well. They tell you next morning what time it will arrive so you don't have to hang around all day. My son was so impressed with the TV he bought himself one last week. He said the picture is great for Xbox and PS.0
