I have been told that some households have stopped paying their tv licence fee by using a template letter. From where? There have not been any consequences either.
I have also been told that the BBC or the government wants to abolish the fee as it is too expensive.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

The only way you can watch TV without needing a licence is if you only watch programmes via the catch up services after they have been broadcast over the airwaves.0

If the BBC stopped the TV Licence they would have no money to broadcast.0 -
Well, they'd certainly have to find alternative sources of income. This would doubtless be advertising.talktalktobt wrote: »If the BBC stopped the TV Licence they would have no money to broadcast.
I do believe the Conservative Party would abolish the License fee if they could, but there are no published plans to actually do so either now or in the future.0 -

I ditched it a while ago and just watch the I players and YouTube etc. I don't need live TV or to record programs.0

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
