Hi all,
For you parents out there, or people who know what kids want (we have absolutely zero idea so Xmas and birthdays are a bit of a nightmare), can you help us with what a 7 year old girl and a 11-12 year old lad are 'into'?
We've asked the parents before but one is out of the country and the other always blabs to the lad what we've told her we'll get him, and we want it to be a surprise.
Maximum £10-15 each, less is preferable!

I have godchildren very similar ages and TBH have now started to opt for vouchers or cash for the older one as everything he seems to be into is quite expensive,so a cash contribution goes towards the present he chooses to buy...or indeed credit towards his itune account etc.
I am getting my god daughter a set of pampering goodies, she's quite girly and at 8 is into the tween phase of wanting teenage things but not quite...shes also quite into the bake off type thing of making cakes so for her birthday we bouight cke decorations, and some bits and bobs to make muffins etc which she really loved...we have tried to stay away from loom bands etc mainly because they are everywhere
I guess a lot depends on what type of children they are and whether they are "older" than their age....at both ages my kids were still very much into books and dvds but not all kids like the same thingfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

The older lad is quite young for his age I'd say, still plays with lego, dinosaurs, dressing up etcetra. The little girl we haven't seen for about two years due to custody issues so really completely clueless what she'd like. She was very much into pink and peppa pig two years ago, but I'm sure ALOT has changed.0

When my cousin was 7 I bought her Hello Kitty stuff or some general girlie things in the Boots 3 for 2.
11-12 year old boy is a tough one as it's a transitional age. When my step-brother was this age it was easy because he has a sweet tooth so I'd buy him chocolate. I'd look in Boots again for maybe a cool yet inexpensive gadgetOur Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

I hadn't even thought of getting him sweeties, he has a very sweet tooth, thanks!0

No worries, we do the same for my step-dad as he has the biggest sweet tooth I've ever known. We go to the cash and carry and get him the biggest box of wine gums we can find! Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Okay so I've seen a Hello Kitty pillow with a pink horse on it and a slab of chocolate from Hotel Chocolat for the lad, I'm a bit iffy about the pillow but there is so much Hello Kitty stuff and I'm clueless.0

Hotel Chocolat slabs are awesome. My uncle buys me them sometimes for Christmas and I'm 22.
For Hello Kitty stuff you have no limits as to where you can look, especially online. When I was 14 my mum went to Hong Kong and bought me this Hello Kitty bag
have a look on eBay, amazon and claire's accessories - always find good HK stuff thereOur Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Color Me Mine Messenger Bag
The above on Amazon seems popular with my young female relatives.0 -
Would he possibly liked any child tools? Sounds silly but at that age (and still now) my brother loved making things and even had his own workshop! There's lots of inexpensive tools you could set him up with a small kit. Might be inappropriate for him but a like for lego could imply a like for building things!0

For the boy: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric-Paper-Airplane-Conversion-Kit-Electric-Power-By-PowerUp-Great-Gift-/400560926310?_trksid=p2054897.l4275
This is the cheaper/simpler version - there is one for approx £30 where you can steer them with a smart phone.0
