Hope you got to do some reading & relaxing.
So take it you're going ahead with the damp company? Although a lot of money at least it can be sorted & it will be a big relief. Our first flat was quite damp in certain areas and we had a dehumidifier going all the time as well, it wasn't fun.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Yes I think we are going ahead Sashybo.. we are also having a more powerful constant trickle centrifugal fan put in the bathroom, all in all, just under £1000.
We have the money back guarantee and if it works, it's money well spent.. though I'd rather not be spending it at all.
Good news / not good news tonight. DH is being put forward for an £8.5 payrise which will be fantastic if that gets approved. On the flip side, his car is beginning to creak and wouldn't start tonight as he was due to take it to the garage to get the brakes looked at.
We are trying to hold on till the little people go to School before replacing his as we will have £300 extra a month from not paying nursery anymore, but I don't think we will last that long!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Afternoon.. soooo have a day at home with the kids as they are not back at nursery till next week. Been to get some fruit and drop a ring in to be fixed. Hate spending money on it, but the stone is loose and I'd be upset if I lost it!
DH's car is being fixed today and is also for MOT.. just hoping it passes.. but with those and the car tax and the house insurance and the damp thingy, I think I'm going to have to use a credit card this month. It's an 18 mth interest free one, but I just can't cover everything. What I do know though is that I will account for every penny, and pay it off asap.. whereas before I would just have done it and not thought about it. Hate the thought of using it though, we haven't had any debt on a credit card for four years!
Bought some paint today (will come out of the house fund) to start on the hall, hopefully this weekend!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Hi DFOD, not great about the CC but at least it's 0%, you have the option to use it and you know that you'll pay it off as quickly as possible. These things always seem to happen all together.
Hope the car passes its MOT. Great news on the possible payrise for your DH. :beer:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
The car failed! Given its age Im not surprised.. Cost of £249 for the MOT, the repairs and the works needed for the MOT. Given that we've just laid out that, we will stick with it for another year, but have to start planning to replace now before the winter this year I reckon.
Aside from that, I have deleted and redone my YNAb budget as I'd got into a bit of a pickle with how it worked and my accounts were balancing. Pleased to say that's all sorted now. With the upcoming works to the house for the damp, I've had to move some money around and the emergency fund that was over 50% there already is now down to £12.71! Hey ho, you have to start somewhere. I've also started a MFW diary as I'm starting to think longer term about the mortgage and clearing that before DH reaches 65 so the poor git can retire! I'm going to try and pay off £1000 off that this year as well.
So just need to find the money for the house insurance and the car tax this month and maybe, just maybe, next month I can start to do some proper budgeting!
Won't mention I'm off to get my roots seen to tomorrow. 4 months in the waiting as the hairdressers has a special money off offer in January, so I'm doing it as frugal as I can, but my grey is appalling at the moment. Looking forward to three child free / husband free hours when I can read my kindle and drink warm tea!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Hi Mum40 - no I wasn't.. Not sure why, but I don't like paying for things monthly.. I don't mind saving up for things monthly, but prefer paying for things when they are due.. silly I know!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

Morning Sunday!
Another quiet one planned here. Am letting DH have a lie in, in the hope he might start painting the hall later, or at least watch the kids so I can do a bit.. the hall runs the whole length of the bungalow, so it'll be a bit tricky in terms of when we can paint it as we can't cordon it off to keep the kids from touching it.. DH also needs to work out what wood he needs to build a shoe storage bench / coat hook set up in the hall - he's quite handy at stuff like this..
Mr T shop due at lunchtime, think I'll come in £1/£2 under the weekly food budget.
Sold two things on a FB selling site yesterday, both for £5 - hopefully one collected today - but looks like I might have an extra £10.. if so, will put that towards the mortgage overpayment as I didn't expect to sell these two items at all.
Few items to ebay today.. and mainly just getting us all ready for the full return to normality tomorrow. Littlies haven't been in nursery for three weeks, so it'll be interesting to see how that goes tomorrow morning!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)
