  • Hi Sashybo and MTG - thanks for popping in. DH is just reading to the little people and then I'm going to finish inputting the info to YNAB. We are not four weekly, but I think it will help me massively in planning forward for things and seeing 'pots' of money grow!

Looking forward to watching some TV we have recorded over Xmas tonight that our visitors didn't want to watch and polishing off the last of the choc before my diet starts again tomorrow in earnest to kick the last 35lb or so!

Have a great evening all! x

  • Happy New Year all!

I've woken up all bunged up, seem to have had a constant cough / cold throughout December and just in time for our holidays tomorrow! Sigh.

Done the online food shop ready for Monday when we get back. Also booked the slots for the rest of January.

Entered all our budget into YNAB, will take a bit of tweaking this month, but I'm pleased with how it looks and I'm excited to get going with it.

Just looking for a menu plan board for the kitchen. We use a post it at the moment, but this is an area DH struggles to go along with and I'm thinking if we had a more prominent board, that might help. Dunno though as I don't want to spend the pennies. Maybe I could use a piece of A4 paper each week!

I need to pack today and sort out a few bits round the house as we are back Monday and then it's straight back to work Tuesday.

Have a nice day everyone. x

    Happy new year DFOD. :)

Hope your cold gets better, always happens when you're going away, so annoying. I'm sure you'll enjoy your holiday anyway. :)

I bought a magnetic notice board for the kitchen from ebay so can use magnets to stick lists etc on it but you can also use a chalk pen to write messages on it, which might be an idea? Think it was about £20 & I didn't want to spend the money either, had to force myself. :o

You're welcome re the magnetic board, mine also has a wee shelf for pens etc so it's nice & handy.

Actually originally wanted it because my new house has a built in fridge/freezer so nowhere to stick my fridge magnets. :rotfl: Such a child. :o I use it to stick my paper shopping list & any money off vouchers on and DH uses the chalk pen to draw things on it! :D

Hope you're enjoying your holiday.

  • I'm back! And had a fab break..

Actually managed money wise really well! So happy with that.

Whilst away, £6.06 has appeared payable in my cashback, so will withdraw that and decide what to do with it.

Car tax reminder also arrived. What he gives with one hand etc...

For the rest of today, it's chill time with the little people, tidying up and getting ready for back to work tomorrow. Also need to update YNAb as the child benefit should be in the bank today!

Hi DFOD, glad you enjoyed yourself & well done on the money side also. :T

  • Thanks Sashybo..

Well 30 minutes of my life spent tonight trying to download internet security.. hate paying for it, but necessary. Just the car tax to pay now and that's me done spending for tonight. Did get £10 off the internet security, so a bit of a saving!

Back to work today and wasn't too bad, nice to be using the brain again..

Posted some fleabag items as well, will use the pennies to pay for postage and leave the rest in Paypal in case I need to pick anything up from there. Few more items currently on and selling, so a bit more money to come in..

Got work to agree to a training development programme today for me.. which will take about 9 mths, but will stand me in good stead should I choose to pursue this line of work as a career. I have a main job, but also do a little second job which I could do in lots of places. Have been mulling the idea over for ages about whether to focus on building up a number of part time jobs giving me more flexibility or sticking with the regular day job.. Anyhoo, I should hopefully start this course soon and will see what comes my way!

Glad you had a fab time away DF1D. I too received my car tax reminder on the 2nd and thought it seemed to get here quicker than usual!!! xx

  • Evening diary, a quite day here.. kids in bed. Hoping to sneak off to bed to read one of the free kindle books I downloaded last night.

Damp company came out and recommended a PIV as we thought. £700 for supply and fit.. so much money, but if it solved our damp problem, I'd pay double that!
