Suggestions on decent saucepans

Couldn't find a suitable board for this so hope I get some responses here!

I've decided I need to invest in some decent saucepans as I've always had cheap ones that don't last and the non stick coating is now coming off my current set!

What are everyone's recommendations? I prefer non stick to stainless steel but am open to suggestions

Are anodised ones worth the extra money?

I have £55 in Tesco vouchers and they've just started their boost today so I have potentially £110 to spend on them

Thanks in advance!

I've got a set of Prestige pans. They were a wedding present so had them since 1980 and still like new despite heavy use.

I/we cook and rarely eat ready meals at first because it was cheaper but now because I prefer to know what I'm eating and cooking is a bit of a hobby.

Only one of my pans is non-stick, a small milk/sauce pan.

What type of hob have you got?

What do you use your pans for?

I've had ceramic hobs for over 25 years and love the Vision glass pans.

Not even sure if you can get them anymore and I know lots of people didn't get on with them. I've inherited a number of these pans because of that reason.
At the time, it was quite difficult to get pans suitable for ceramic hobs.

I like the Tefal range with the red dot in the middle (whatever they're called) and they're coated in Teflon - I only have one pan so far but I use it constantly and it's still like new.

To be brutally honest you aren't going to get decent pans for that price. I would prioritise the pan sizes that you use most often and buy these first, adding the nice to have/ occasional use ones later. Personally I don't use non-stick pans, but mine have very thick bases and food rarely burns on or sticks. If you do buy non-stick then only use wooden/plastic/silicon utensils to prevent damage to the coating.

The Meyer Bella Cuisine range is awesome if you can still find it. Their pans carry a 25 year guarantee, are sturdy and of very high quality. They stand up to the punishment that the cheaper brands don't. Trouble with the cheaper branded pans is that they are a false economy: after a year or two or use, they need replacing, so you end up spending more on them in the long run. I've had my (second hand!) Bella Cuisine set for 14 years and they are still fab.

I have Silit pans (a German brand). Expensive but worth it.

I was only looking to get three pans as I have a wok and frying pan I'm quite happy with - is over £100 not a fairly decent budget for three everyday usage pans?
  • Ikea make very good pans, not that expensive either.
