My ideal meal would be the pigs in blankets, roast tatties, yorkie puds, skirlie, gravy, bread sauce, few carrots and peas. (Never mind turkey !) Followed by a nice big bannoffee pavlova. Yum yum. Roll on Christmas!
Later on, when there's a bit of space again, crackers, cheese and grapes.mmmmmm.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

We've decided to stay at home this year so it will be just the two of us on the day. Haven't even thought about what to have but it won't be turkey!0

I think the food is (for me) the best part of Christmas and the planning of it is what makes it that.0

A couple of years ago I did the whole turkey thing as usual, it took up ages, even though I told myself it was a glorified roast, it felt more than that. The kids didn't really enjoy it, their Dad didn't enjoy it, and neither did I. We made a decision then that we would decide what we wanted, and came to the decision that homemade lasagne and garlic bread was the favourite. So that is what I will be doing!
Yes - you must choose your own traditions! In our house it's the big roast (never turkey, nobody likes it) on Christmas Eve, then Crispy Duck Pancakes on Christmas Day - voted for about 20 years ago and now the custom.[0 -
We always have Xmas lunch at the inlaws and MIL cooks the most amazing Turkey roast with all the trimmings, I love it especially as she makes a point of including loads of pigs in blankets as she knows I adore them. They have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson

We love a nice turkey from our butcher. It was always delicious, never dry. We have it with all the trimmings. Lucky for us our children are fans too, they especially love their Dads roast spuds :-)0

We have to have turkey or I think Hubby would divorce me! We buy an enormous turkey crown even though there's only the two of us (though we do have his family coming this Dec 25th for a change) so there are plenty of leftovers. He has to have turkey butties and chips on boxing day for lunch and a turkey curry sometime over the festive period.
if I said to him that we could only afford either a turkey or presents, he'd choose turkey every time!0 -
Last year was our first we didnt go to the parentals and it was just thr 4 of us. We had chicken but tbh kids arent that interested in the joint. Thry prefer roasties yprks n pigs! So this year I think its either beef or lamb. Probably beef as kids like it! Dh works boxing day as its panto at work so just the 3 of us. Last year the request was pizza pasta n chips so that's what we had! Lol x0
