Has the money actually been taken, or has it been ‘put aside’ eight times? If it has been taken off your available credit balance (but not properly booked yet), then most likely the seven excess bookings (apart from the correct charge) will fall off (after 3 or 4 days) and everything will be back to normal.
If it does not come into conflict with your ‘available credit’, you can just wait and see if your account returns back to normal in about three days time.0 -
Is it by any chance Wilkinson who have taken the money ?
I work for LTSB. It seems that they have taken transactions 6 and 7 times from people's accounts.
You need to contact your bank and dispute the transaction. They should be able to reclaim it for you quite easily. It seems like a national problem and so you might have a longer wait getting through to them as a result.
Hope this helps.Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!

I've had duplicate or triplicate tranactions appear on my account before, but it's always been sorted very swiftly as the card company can see the exact times the tranactions were entered into the system and can tell immediately when it's a system error at their or the retailers end.
If they say they need time to resolve the matter and your statement/payment date is due ask for the amounts to be 'set aside' as a dispute. You are then not obliged to pay nor are they permitted to charge any interest til the matter is resolved.
I'm sure it will sort itself quickly though.0 -
I've had this too - been charged 4 times. Phoned up my local branch - and they were very courteous - took my details and told me that the money should be credited back to my account tomorrow.
They told me that they thought it was a computer glitch that has caused this to happen.
Fingers crossed that the money comes back in soon...0 -

yes it was wilkinsons, and the money has definatley been taken. spoken to bank who have warned me it could take up to 6 weeks to return (but doesn't usually ttake that long) andf i will definatley get told whats happening within 14 days.0 -
this happened to me in argos a couple of weeks ago. how it happened was that when i paid with my debit card, it argos sent my bank 2 authorisation numbers so therfore my bank paid them twice. i was not a happy bunny as this would've sent me overdrawn with no fault of my own and that would've given me charges that i would've just had to claim back!!
it did finally get sorted out in 3 days and i didnt get any charges0 -
Hello
Were all the transactions made on the same day? Do these all have the same reference number?
It could be that the tape, when sent through clearing, has been 'run' more than once and resulted in the extra charged. Whomever acts as 'wilkinsons bank' should be aware of the issue and correct the accounts affect.Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - 1420 Days To Go!LBM: £103,592.98 / Currently £78,500.08 - Down 24.22% / Mortgage: £92,800.00 / Loan: £17,284.21 / Overdraft: £450.09 / C/Card 0%(October 08): £5,601.54 / C/Card 0% (January 09): £1075.22 / Child Care: £137.80

I had a transaction query with LTSB which took about 6 weeks to resolve.....but.....
....they credited all the money to my a/c whilst they were investigating. There is no reason why your bank can't do this too."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0
