Disabled parking question

I Am going out today to Manchester for the first time since being awarded a blue disabled badge. I will be in Manchester from around 11.30 till around 3.30pm I am aware my badge only covers me for 3 hours and my question is could I pay for say the first hour and leave my badge in car from 12.30 for the 3 hours remaining? Is that allowed or not. I have only used my badge once and it was only for an hour
Advice would be helpful. Thanks

It's my understanding that's it's the other way around.
You have to use your 3 free hours 1st and then pay for any additional time.
The booklet you got with your badge should be able to clear it up though.0 -
Oh right I will look in book. Just means you have to come back to car again doesn't it. I was hoping I could just do that and go to where I was going without having to drag myself back to car to top up.0

You could move the car into another space and get another three hours. Dont just change the clock as the [STRIKE]jobsworths[/STRIKE] wardens take pictures of where your tyre valves are on your tyres so they know if you have moved or not.0

It depends on how the parking is policed.
In Carlisle BB holders are allowed 3 hrs free in council run carparks. If you want longer then you pay the difference. E.G if you want to stay 5 hours then you pay for 2. When checked then the presence of the BB means the warden adds 3 hours to the expiry time shown on the ticket and that is the exit time that they will work to.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I have been under the impression that the clock is only used when parking on yellow lines and have always parked in a on street parking bay either disabled or non disabled for as long as I need, sometimes for more than 3 hours (in Manchester) and had no issues0
-
The clock is only used for double yellow lines and time limited parking. If you're parking in a disabled bay off street then no clock is needed and you can park for as long as you want.0

If it's a car park you're parking in check what it says, as round our way blue badge holders still have to pay like everyone else. It's the on street parking that gives you the 3 hours. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
No clock needed is only for disabled bays with unlimited parking restrictions and we don't have any of them down this way at all!ours are all restricted to 3 hours. And there is also no return so you cant just move to another spot further down the road! Car parks is first 3 hours free but then you would need to top up, but also leave your disabled badge and clock set at the arrival time in the window so they can see your extra hour is a top up!poppy12345 wrote: »The clock is only used for double yellow lines and time limited parking. On street parking meters for non disabled here I think we can park without restriction but that would be listed on the parking meters. You would be better to contact the local council and ask them about their restrictions as they all seem to be different around the country! The leaflet issued by gov regarding disabled parking rights is here:

The Council run car parks in Newcastle let you park all day and, as long as your badge is showing, you can also park in non-disabled bays all day. It's only the privately run car parks that only let you stay the 3 hours or, in some cases, make you pay whether in a disabled space or not!0

All councils are different. In my town if i park in a disabled bay with no time limits then i don't need to show my clock. All parking in my town is free to anyone. No clock needed is only for disabled bays with unlimited parking restrictions and we don't have any of them down this way at all!ours are all restricted to 3 hours.
