Sorry I was editing and accidentally lost the post! In essence, I was disagreeing with Thrugelmir's post #5. For example, here's what Tesco Bank (picked at random) say in their privacy policy...Hmm Yorkshire's post seems to be deleted. I know it's late but I'm sure I saw another post.Credit reference agencies record any links between you and anyone with whom you have a joint account or similar financial association. All parties’ information will be taken into account in future applications.

I assumed from the OP's first post. That the application for finance was for the purchase of an item rather than an application for additional credit facilities.0 -
But how do they know you have a joint account with someone? Does it come up automatically? I'm asking because I've only ever had a bank account that's been joint. So when I've been applying previously would they already know this from checks or would they only realise because the person who it's joint with has applied for something with that account before.
Am I making sense?0 -

Yes, Thrug it's for a purchase of an item from a well known store (not Tesco)

Well if you've previously secured finance from them whilst being financially associated with your husband through the joint current account...But how do they know you have a joint account with someone? And...
Your husband's credit history has not deteriorated since then...
And...
They haven't changed their credit scoring algorithms...
Then you should be OK this time too (with regard to your husband's credit history).0 -
Thanks for replying Yorkshire. I guess I won't fully know until I go myself tomorrow. I just didn't want to go to be told I'm rejected.0

Not true - if the OP is financially linked to her husband then that WILL be taken into account. But how do they know you have a joint account with someone? Does it come up automatically? Credit reference agencies such as Experian, Equifax and Noddle will show if there is an official financial connection. A joint current account is HIGHLY likely to show one whereas a joint savings account won't.0 -
But would they have known we were financially before or would they only realise from when he tried to a apply yesterday? Would the fact I have had and still do have payments out going to them that are always paid on time help at all?0

Almost certainly. But would they have known we were financially before
Almost certainly not.or would they only realise from when he tried to a apply yesterday?
Possibly. Has your husband's credit file deteriorated since you last applied?Would the fact I have had and still do have payments out going to them that are always paid on time help at all?0 -
Thanks Yorkshire. My husband has never applied for anything since we've had the joint account although I know he has bad credit. Something flagged on his report 2 years ago but the only other instance is yesterday with him trying to apply. Even though something flagged up 2 years ago I applied to them last year for something and was accepted and I'm still paying that off on time. If the financial link was already there from yesterday I'm guessing it shouldn't be a problem but I can't help worrying as I've always been pretty good with repayments on anything.0
