16 month old water bill

Hi all,

My partner and I moved in together in June 2013 and my partner had an outstanding bill with her water company. She contacted them when we moved and gave them our new address and asked them to send a final bill. They replied to our new address so clearly had the cost details but a final bill never arrived. Now 16mths later a bill has arrived.

I have been reading up on the Back Billing Code that states a company can't bill a customer for utilities used Over 12mths ago.

I was just wondering if this is the same with water suppliers and whether we have a case to have the outstanding bill written off?

Anyone had a similar situation?

Thanks

This thread indicates that the voluntary Back Billing Code only applies to gas and electricity suppliers.

They have up to six years before a debt becomes 'statute barred'.

Maybe you should be asking your questions on The Water Bills Board.
